Here, for your viewing pleasure, pictures of my trip to Indy and half marathon numero dos.

My favorite cheerleader was a little slow to get off the air mattress. |
My running ladies (before) -- Andrea, Erica, me, and Teresa in our 13.1 shirts! |
Entering the Indianapolis 500 Speedway. So cool! |
...And after the race, medals all around! |
Bling bling! |
My sad, disgusting, bruised toenail |
Awesome pics! Thanks for the bling close-up :) That toe looks "angry"!!! I have a feeling I'll have some to match you in a matter of days :( I'm not looking forward to the hills or the heat, but hey, a girl's gotta do what girl's gotta do to get that bling, right?
ReplyDeleteThe toe is very "angry" but I'm trying not to mess with it! It doesn't hurt at all, so I'm hoping it will remedy itself. I can't wait to see YOUR pictures of race day! And you're right... you gotta do what you gotta do to get that bling! Can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteHave you packed? Are you excited/nervous? :)
I am nervous. I had a very emotional run this morning thinking about my sister so a rough start to my day. Worried about how emotional I will be on Saturday - this run is for her :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't packed yet. I wore my outfit today as the shorts were new & they say to never run in something you haven't run in before. I wore it, I washed it & it's ready for Indy. I'll probably walk tomorrow so I didn't pack yet.
I told you I had some appointments to get done. Cardiologist - done & all clear, mammogram - done & all clear. Tomorrow afternoon I'm having 2 CT scans (neck/chest)for a small lump in my neck that has taken up residency for the last 4-5 months. Probably nothing but need to look due to family history. Friday we leave for Indy, get my packet, maybe dinner with my cousin. Saturday, run like the wind! Or, more like a slight breeze...lol. Whatever works :)))
I'll have to post some pics on FB.
Emotional runs are the BEST runs in my book! I've cried before and after both half marathons (okay, and maybe teared up at various points during them)! And you have a great reason to be emotional -- this is your run with your sister right with you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for being so proactive about your health -- I feel like there are so many people who don't want to get things checked until it's very obvious there is a problem. Good for you for looking into it now!
Enjoy this weekend! Enjoy the experience and the sights and the sounds and everything you feel. Safe travels tomorrow, and I'll be looking for updates and pictures on Facebook!
I think races make me emotional but not "this" emotional! I'm sure I'll survive ... if I can only breathe - lol. She will be with me, all 13.1 I have no doubt :)
ReplyDeleteTests are done & I'll probably get results next week (hopefully).
Looking forward to heading out of town & spending time with my hubby. He took me shopping tonight for some new running shorts. They were on sale & I've been eyeballing a pair & I really need some new running clothes. We went to Metro & got some Roctane for my races. Yes, that is plural. I have lost my mind...I just signed up for the Sunburst 1/2 marathon today which is 2 weeks after this one. I figured if I think I can run Goofy & do a 1/2 one day & a full marathon the next then I should be able to do another 1/2 two weeks after this one, right? I'm trained & it sounds good in theory but talk to me Saturday when I can hardly bend my legs & you can listen to me cry...lol.
We will post something on FB :)
That is AWESOME, Sherry! I can't wait to hear how this goes for you -- and Sunburst in two weeks -- you'll have so much bling, you won't know what to do with it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!!
And probably NO toenails left, lol!
ReplyDeleteToenails are overrated! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Geist 1/2 marathon was a really nice course & it was done well :) I'm not as sore as I thought I would be. The hills weren't as bad as they looked on the elevation chart. No blisters & so far and I think only 1 jacked toenail - so not bad - I'll take it. I did beat my previous 1/2 marathon time by 2 minutes & I'm 2 years older so I'll take that too...lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, I really need to order a medal hook to start haning these on.
Eeee! I'm so, so proud of you! What an awesome accomplishment to beat your time by TWO minutes! That's so great!
ReplyDeleteHow are you feeling? Muscle ache? Tiredness level? I did Bike the Bend yesterday with my parents and boyfriend and man are my calfs sore today!
Actually, I found out later I'm more sore than I thought. But it's not too bad...you know, just the penguin walk after sitting for awhile or getting out of bed!!! I'm still not as sore as my first 1/2 I did 2 years ago. Not really tired. I think what carb loading I did may have helped to I'll try it again for Sunburst. Today I did a 4 mile run - that was a little tough but I made it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time with those closest to you :)))
